forty-five years....

This past June marked 45 years of a blessed marriage. My in-laws celebrated this milestone by inviting all our families to a fun vacation week in Gatlinburg, TN. We enjoyed golf, shopping, swimming, card games, crafting, homemade dinners, hanging out, a mountain hike and just being together as a family was the best part of all. Our vacation was an incredible time filled with lots of memories and the same can be said of their marriage. Sure, their marriage has not always been filled with roses and daisies (just like any marriage) but God is faithful. Christ has always been the center of their marriage thus blessing their union with faithfulness, grace, compassion and lots of laughter. I am blessed to have these wonderful examples of faithful service to Christ, as they have served each other and their families, in my life.

Thank you for raising children who are compassionate, faithful, good leaders and most importantly, children who know Jesus and His unfailing love. I have benefited from your Christian example of marriage in my own marriage to your son. May your days be continually blessed and here's to many many more years of marriage!!

Here are a few photos that we took to commemorate our time together!!

There might have been a few Brewer fans in the crowd as well!!

eleven years

11 years ago on a gorgeous fall day in Wisconsin I said "I do" to forever with this man. 11 years ago I promised for better or for worse to be by his side. I promised for richer or for poorer to remain his wife. I promised in sickness and in health to be with him. 11 years ago I was so "young" and in love. Now, I'm just 11 years older and even more in love. I know more about what it means to be married. I am learning (albeit very slowly) how to be unselfish, how to put ones needs before my own. I know that forgiveness and communication are huge elements in a successful marriage but having Christ as the center of marriage is the MOST important thing. I am grateful for Greg's commitment to lead our family in Christ's truth. I am grateful that he LOVES the word of God and sharing it with our family. I am grateful that Greg knows how to forgive me when I've wronged him or the kids.

I am grateful for 11 years of learning new lessons, learning how to love in new ways, learning how to be unselfish, learning more about myself, my husband and most importantly my Savior. I remember that fall day with a smile on my face, it was an INCREDIBLE day. Being surrounded by our friends and family as we committed for forever as husband and wife was momentous and not something I take lightly. I am grateful to all my friends who stood by me then and those who stand by me now (many are the same). I am grateful for this amazing man that God saw fit for me to call my husband. For better and for worse! My sentiments are the same from my ten year post. My love for Greg has grown and flourished over the years as I've grown and learned so many things, I cannot imagine my life without him. Happy 11 baby!!

So INCREDIBLY blessed!!

ten years!!!

Ten years! A decade! Wow! Time flies...

I have been married to my best friend for ten years! Amazing, it feels like just yesterday we were walking down the aisle looking forward to whatever was in store for us. We saw a bright future but knew only God knew how it would unfold. Ten years later I've learned so much about this man that God has blessed my life with and I've learned more about HIM as well through this man. We know that God continues to direct our path and knows what the future holds but we're blessed to be on this path together with HIM holding our future.

Greg, you are an amazing husband and I'm so blessed that God saw fit for me to spend my life with you. I am so glad that you are the father of our children and that you are the one I get to spend my days and nights with. Thank you for loving me in spite of my shortcomings and for teaching me so many things about love and  myself by loving me for me. Thank you for being my rock, my biggest supporter and fan. Thank you for encouraging me, teaching me, and showing me tough love when necessary. I treasure every day I get to spend with you and I'm sorry if I don't always show that. You are amazing and I am so blessed to call you my beloved! These ten years have gone incredibly fast and I CANNOT wait to see what God has in store for our future together. I promise to stand faithfully by your side, for better or for worse! He is our ROCK and this cord of three strands will not easily break! I love you Greg and I treasure our marriage!!!

I really tried to make sure that my photos wouldn't be totally "dated" in ten years and tried to pick classic dresses and accessories...I think these things may just stand the test of time...a little. Love these girls so much and I wouldn't trade any of them!!

One of my favorite photos from the day.

Our amazing family and friends who stood by us on our big day...and still do!! We love you guys!

Here's a little image of the gifts I made for Greg. The one on the left was from something I saw on Pinterest, but I cannot find the original source...I re-created it but it looks pretty much the same. The one on the right is a re-creation of something I saw in an etsy store...it's pretty much an exact replica...is that wrong? I'm just curious. For real? Is it wrong to take an idea that someone is trying to sell and re-create it for ME (or hubby) and have NO intention to try and sell the design. I'd really like to know, because I've done it for some other gifts and I just don't want to do something that's totally wrong. Anyway, hope you all have a great weekend!!

calling all brides...

Have you recently gotten engaged? Were you married within the last year? I would love it if you would help me out. I have a 10 question questionnaire that I am looking for brides to answer for me. This questionnaire is about wedding photography websites. If you have a photographer and didn't search online this is not for you. But if you found your wedding photographer online or have at least looked online for wedding photographers and would be willing to answer my questions I'd greatly appreciate it. Just email me (jamie at jtphoto dot org) with the word BRIDE in the subject line and I will send you the questionnaire. Thank you for taking the time to help me out!!!

You can see a few more from her session on my photography website!

Her dress has pockets! How cool is that?

adam and chelsea's wedding

Let's start this wedding post with a photo of someone
who won't be getting married for quite a while.
This is my beautiful niece Lily!
She will be two on Halloween and will be a big sister in January!

The sky was clear but the weather was hot
for this roof top wedding ceremony!

In true Adam fashion the guys had awesome shoes...

and ties.

Here's the happy couple saying their vows.

These little ones did not make it through the ceremony,
but instead enjoyed snacks downstairs...
I can't blame them much, the wedding was at 7pm.

Here's my family that was in town for the wedding...
crazy Micah, me, Greg, Naomi, my dad, my mom,
my sister-in-law Catherine, my niece Lily and my brother.

She doesn't look too happy here does she?
Just tired and hot and hungry I guess,
(bad combination for a 3 year old)
but this is the dress I made for her for the wedding.
It was a pretty easy dress to make and I love how it turned out.
I'll get some better photos of it later and post them.

Naomi was so excited to see the "wedding girl" Chelsea!

This is my mom and her brother, three sisters and their spouses.

Naomi and (according to her) her future husband Matthew.
They look thrilled don't you think...

This is me and my good friend Kimi
(she's Matthew's mom, so I have no problem with
Naomi wanting to marry Matthew)

The only photo I got of the bride and groom with "most" of their faces showing.
I know, how could I not get one good photo of the b&g...
too busy chasing kids and catching up with family I guess.

Naomi, Micah and Lily had a great time dancing
for the short while that they were at the reception.

These are all my cousins, their spouses and kids that were at the wedding.
This is only a small sampling of all the cousins on this side of the family.

We had a great time at the wedding and it was so great
to catch up with family and friends.
The day came and went so quickly.

I'll have more photos tomorrow from the rest of our weekend in Dallas!
