Ash Wednesday
This is the beginning of the Lenten journey. It's a day for remembering our mortality and God's offer of eternal life through Him!Did you know....?
*Lent begins on a different date from year to year. That's because Easter falls on the first Sunday after the full moon between March 22 and April 25.
*The ashes for Ash Wednesday are generall created by burning the palm leaves from the previous year's Palm Sunday observance.
*The color purple is common in the church during most of Lent. It represents penitence and sacrifice.
"If you remove the yoke from among you, the pointing of the finger, the speaking of evil, if you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness...and you shall be...like a spring of water, whose waters never fail." -Isaiah 58:9-11
