smelly cookies

you know it's a slow news day
when they do a (albeit) short piece
on smelly girl scout cookies.

Here's the kicker...
they smell bad,
taste bad,
but are not harmful,
did not make anyone sick,
OH and you don't have to worry
about any of those cookies being in Texas.

Seriously, then why do I care?
And why is it on the NEWS.
I don't really consider that to be news.

But hey, everyone in other states,
if you get a batch of Lemon Girl Scout Cookies
that are smelly, you can still eat them,
they won't make you sick.

Must be a slow blog day too! Ha!

nothin' but blah

I've got nothin'....
nothin'...

my mind is blank mess,
ready for another nap,
ready for the head cold to be gone,
ready for a night out!

So, while I'm still recovering from my state of blah
you can go check out my archives or something.
Pick a topic from the list on the right under the cute photo
of my adorable son and learn more about me.

And if you have any questions for me...
personal or otherwise,
leave a comment and maybe that will prompt something
and help me get out of this state of blah!

And since no post is any good without a photo
I leave you one of what we were doing last year on this date
I think she was trying to lift him out of the crib...
next to impossible if you do it that way.
But look, short sleeves and shorts, must have been a warm February!

happy birthday to my beloved

today is the day my sweet husband turns 31!
We were talking about it last night on the way to church.
Turning 30 is one thing...
but turning 31 is something different.
Now that he's 31 he's actually IN his 30's!
Let me tell you a little bit about my amazing husband.
It is after all, his special day so I thought I'd take a moment to brag.

Greg and I met in 1999 during a youth ministry retreat in college.
It was my sophomore year of college and I innocently
assumed he was a freshman since I'd never seen him before.
Turns out he was a transfer student and in his third year of college.
Good! I never was one to date a younger man!

Our relationship started out with me being his
youth ministry team leader, and he a faithful member.
We started with a strong base...
firmly on the Word of Christ.
Doing Bible studies with our group,
praying together, learning more and more
about each other in an open, honest and Christ-centered way.

Not much has changed,
well, besides
our address,
waist size,
marital status,
parental status,
name pre-fix,
and job status
we're pretty much the same.

We love to stay home and watch movies,
we love to eat out and do more often than we should.
We love to play with our children and make them laugh,
We love to play games and hang out with friends,
but would rather do so at home than in a crowded place.
We are still firmly rooted in the Word of Christ.
We still pray together and for each other.
And we're learning more and more about each other
in an open, honest and Christ-centered way.

This man is amazing.
He has such a heart for people.
He cares so much for his family and friends.
He cares so much for the sheep of his congregation.
His heart hurts when they do,
and rejoices with their triumphs as well.

He's such an incredible husband and father as well.
He makes the children laugh,
he teaches them manners and
most importantly he teaches them
about the LOVE of Christ!

He helps me around the house when I ask for it,
and often times without me asking!
He gives the kiddos their baths!!!
Which is huge in my book because
by the end of the day I'm just plum tired,
and it's a great way for them to connect!
He surprises me with little things,
flowers, an act of service, organizing things,
and again, just sharing the LOVE of Christ!

I am so blessed to be married to this man!
He's incredible, awesome and downright amazing!
He will tell you otherwise, because he's humble like that.
He cares and is transparent in a way I've never known before.
He makes me want to be a better me!
But in the mean time he loves me for who I am!!!

This amazing man also writes daily
devotional thoughts on his blog!
He hasn't written one since last week,
but it's the middle of one of the busiest seasons in the church year,
so we gotta cut him some slack!

If you'd be so inclined to wish him a Happy Birthday
I'm SURE he'd love to hear it and to hear
encouragement for all he does for our church,
for his family and for me!
You can leave him a comment here or on his blog!

Happy Birthday baby! I love you more than I can say!
I hope you know how special you are today!!!
(and every day)

cricut

When my sister was here last month,
she brought Naomi an awesome gift.
She had made paper dolls with her cricut
and laminated them all and put velcro on them
so their dress-up clothes would stick.

Tracey and Naomi had so much fun dressing up the dolls,
pretending to get married,
go trick-or-treating
and Mary even had baby Jesus right here in my living room.

Naomi loves to play with these paper dolls,
and she can spend lots of time playing with them,
as long as Micah's not around to bother her
(that seems to be the theme lately!)There are so many options that Tracey made,
so I'm not going to bore you with photos of all of them,
but trust me, they are super cute.
From bambam and pebbles,
to 5 halloween costumes,
ballerinas, prince, princess and knight...
but I think Naomi's favorite ones are the
bride and groom!Love the Mary and Joseph one...
there is a little Baby Jesus one,
he's just not in the photo.
My other favorite ones are the
super heros!
They even have super hero hair!
Or rock star hair, whichever you prefer!
There are TONS of hairstyles
and quite a few pairs of shoes as well.

Naomi and I watched the infomercial the other day for the cricut.
She was SOOO excited and wanted to do projects right away.
She kept talking about cutting things out and making cool projects.
I tried to tell her that we don't have a cricut,
but if the company wanted to send me one
I would gladly write a glowing review on my blog! ha!

I guess we'll just have to cut things out the
"old fashioned" way
with our scissors. Bummer.
Gotta come up with a project for the girl,
she's dying to make something.

My creative mojo seems to be down the drain right now.
Got any fun ideas for a 3 year old girl who
LOVES
to make projects?

That don't involve a lot of supplies, time or energy? Ha!
Just kidding! I've got supplies...

i won...

So excited!
Just found out that I won this!
Don't tell Naomi!
She'll have to wait for it.

Oh and I never mentioned
I also won some cards from
flatten me!
Just ordered the train ones for Micah's second birthday!

Still not feeling great.
Sore throat, stuffy head and nose,
and we all sound wonderful!

I haven't felt up to being on the computer much.
Would rather lie on the couch.
I haven't even downloaded my photos
from the princess party on saturday.
sad. yes, I know.

under the weather

The kids and I are under the weather.
They're coughing like chain smokers
and I feel like my head is an over-inflated balloon.
READY to POP!

I'll be back asap.
But for now I need to find some oj and the couch!

celebrating love

My husband sent me these beautiful roses for Valentine's Day.
He loves me. He loves to show that he loves me in many different ways.
It's good to be loved...and it's good to love.
And while my husband and I share a deep love for one another,

nothing
can compare with the love that our Savior Jesus Christ has for us.

"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends"
-John 15:3

We are in the midst of the season of Lent.
The 40 day journey that leads us to the cross.
The cross where Jesus laid down his life for his friends
YOU and ME!

Praise God for this incredible gift of life and love.
Praise God for Easter Sunday! The kids love the roses too!Not sure if he's going to smell it or kiss it!

more from dallas

We decided that since we were close (an hour away instead of four)
we should go visit Eric and Heather and see their church.
It was great to worship with them...
and to be able to sit next to my hubby during church was pretty sweet too!

We had a great time at lunch with them after church.
Tried out a new place and just enjoyed catching up!Naomi and Kathryn are two months apart in age and always have so much fun together!
They love to talk and laugh and do all things girly!
(they even went to the bathroom together)
Here's sweet little sister Lauryn! And a crazy photo of Heather and I.
It was super windy so don't mind our hair!Heather and Eric, we always love hanging out with you and catching up.
Hopefully next time we'll have more than an hour to do so!

our trip to dallas...

began sooner than we thought it would.
Kimi called early in the day to warn me of the snow storm that was hitting Dallas.
I called Greg to see if we could leave earlier than we had planned.

It was a good thing we left when we did (which was like 1pm).
We got just south of Dallas before we had to sit and wait.
We sat and sat and sat some more.

This was different that being in WI because Dallas doesn't really have snow plows.
It was not fun sitting but the kids were great.

There were these two guys in front of us who kept getting out of the car to make snowmen and stuff. Then the guy in the car next to us got out to talk to those guys and eventually gave them both bottles of beer. AWESOME! Snow, Texas drivers who don't drive in snow and BEER! cool!!!When we got there about 8pm we spent some time catching up and shortly after got the kids in bed. We enjoyed watching some TV and just hanging out with our friends! It was fun! The power flickered a few times but we didn't think anything of it. Till the morning when we realized the power was out and it was pretty chilly. The boys spent the day in the their hats and pj's and we eventually went to the mall to warm up, eat, and let the kids play.Love this shot of little JJ!Naomi was so excited about the snow and wanted to play in it first thing in the morning.
We didn't let her play till later because we wanted to make sure she could come into a warm house after being in the cold.
Everything's bigger in Texas!
When you need a ladder to finish your snow man you know you're in Texas!
The kids finally got to play in the snow!
They had a blast!
Micah kept falling over because the boots we bought him were a little big.
She loved every second of it!
She was throwing "snowballs" at the tree and thought it was hilarious!
Love these little brothers and can't wait to meet their next little brother in June!
How fun are these kiddos!
Yes, mine are a little crazy,
but I wouldn't have it any other way!
Stay tuned for more photos from our little excursion from Sunday!

when friends come to play

Joshua and Sophia came to play last week.
We had a great time.
Boys will be boys.Girls will be girls. And I LOVE every second of it.
