When Jamie asked me to write a post on random acts of kindness, I got to thinking... When was the last time I did a random act of kindness? 2009 was a rough year for me and I was caught up in myself. My sadness, my predicament, my story... So I wanted to share how I was lifted up by a friend.

I have beautiful friends. This fact is plain and simple. My friend Aamie is one of these beautiful friends. Aamie has a gift with words and is a prayer warrior if I ever heard one pray. There have been many a day when I have opened my front door in the past year and found a small gift or card on my front porch. Always, always when I needed it the most. Her kind words and witty wisdom have cheered me on through the years. I consider her constant prayers as random acts of kindness too. Through Aamie I have learned it is better to give than to receive. Her friendship is a constant blessing.

Now that things are calmed down and I am feeling so much better from the past year. I think it is time to "pay up" so to speak.

Upon Jamie's email I decided to come up with a list of simple things I could do as random acts of kindness in everyday life....

• Let someone else go in front of me in line at the grocery store (no matter how many items are in their cart).


• Pay for the order of the person behind me in the drive-thru at Starbucks.


• Take ice cold lemonade out to the crew that mows our lawn each week in the heat of southeast Texas.


• Buy a combo meal and give it to the homeless guy on the corner by the freeway.


• Bake cookies for a neighbor, ring their doorbell and leave them on the front porch.


• Send a card to a friend out of the blue (like my sweet friend Aamie).

The last item has prompted me to give away the following items from my Etsy Shop Creations by Lanie.
