Labor Day is going to be a day of work for us this year. In fact the days leading up to Labor Day are going to bring work for us. We'll have to make some other Monday in the month of September our "Labor Day". We're in the process of getting the apartments ready for the students to move into on Labor Day. Yup, you heard me right, the students move in ON Labor Day. Don't ask me, I don't make the rules. In order to make sure the students apartments are all ready we're put to work. We've had the furniture company come already and deliver all the furniture we need into one apartment. That's a sight, six couches, eight mattresses, two kitchen tables and chairs for those tables, plenty of coffee tables and end tables all crammed into one room in one apartment. So tomorrow the movers come to divide the furniture to the proper apartments. They were supposed to come on Friday but it was pouring rain and we didn't want all the new furniture to get wet. They were supposed to come Monday but got too busy. So they are coming tomorrow. If it was any later we wouldn't be able to get everything done that needs to be done. All the carpets need to be shampooed (the apartment complex does that), the cleaning lady needs to come and clean each apartment and we need to make sure they have everything they need.
We had already taken inventory to find out what apartment needed what furniture, lamps, mattress pads and all that good stuff. So today we decided to go and buy all that stuff. We went to two WalMarts and bought all that we needed (oops we forgot to buy toilet paper). We got some strange looks walking the aisles of WalMart with our carts full of mattress pads and lamps. I'd stare too if I saw someone buying all that stuff. On our way to the van the cart guy kept saying, "Give me my lights back". We heard it from Sarah and Todd and now we got to experience it! Tonight we put the lamps together and are working on getting the mattress pads cleaned...what a fun night. Tomorrow, we make sure all the furniture gets into the proper places and wash the rest of the mattress pads. Then hopefully the carpets will get cleaned and we'll be ready for Monday. Who knows!? Just thought you'd get a kick out of our "work". It's not hard work persay but time consuming and a little humerous.
I guess our Labor Day won't really be that bad. We just have to make sure the kids get to the right rooms and talk with them about some of the rules and stuff. Then at night we deliver pizzas to each apartment and talk to them about roommates and stuff. I really have no clue what we're doing but I'm sure it will all work out okay!
