These are the words I heard come out of the mouth of one of our cooks at Applebee's. He proceeded to talk about hell and how he's excited to go there because all his friends will be there. Two of the other cooks joined in. They said, "yeah, if we go to heaven we have to make all new friends and I don't want to go through that again."
My heart broke. I said a silent prayer and went on with my day. Is that wrong? I should have said something. I didn't know what to say. I will continue to pray for them and if you'd join me that would be great.
People always say that actions speak louder than words...but is that really true? Help me out here...I'm struggling with this one. What would you have done in my situation?

It may be too lmuch past the moment now, but, and this is just an idea...ask them if they have ever seen the movie "What dreams may come." In it is a very bleak and dark, and very scary depiction of hell, though not completely what we Christians would say it is. It still gives a non happy rendition. Maybe ask if they have seen it, and say, yep, to me hell isn't going to be a fun place where ou get do what ever you want, but is going to be somewhat like this movie's depiction of suffering and hopelessness. Heaven on the other hand is going to be a place where hope is fulfilled, or however you want to make the transition to what the Bible says about heaven...maybe even use another movie depiction that is close to our's. Hope this helps...it's an idea at least, though it may not be practical. Blessings, Cory
Jamie,
You're fine. Sometimes it is good to speak at that moment...sometimes it is better if they "lose their emotion" first as they may get caught up in their emotions and react with what's comfortable...not necessarily reasonable. We know that God sends rain on the just and unjust. We know that he is patient to endure so that all will come to repentance. I would try and help them understand that anything good here is "upkept" by God, himself (knit us in the womb...etc). Heaven will be the best...hell will have no upkeep. Also take a look at the document at Dare2Share Ministries...I will send it to you. I think they do a nice job "bottom-lining" how to witness in love. Keep praying for them...they aren't the only ones who have been tricked by the Devil's lies...but what an opportunity for you to change their lives for eternity! God bless you as you do. tom
