preachers and training

Tuesday, November 08, 2005
On Friday afternoon Greg and I jumped in the car and drove north east for three hours to the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana. What would compell us to do that you might ask? Well, Greg found out that morning that the Preachers were going to be playing the King's Men at 8:00pm. So after I got off work we headed north. It was a nice drive with a chance for us to catch up on our busy lives. We made it to Concordia Seminary before the guys from St. Louis even got there. It was great to see some of our friends from the Seminary and also to meet some new guys. We had a great time socializing before the game and even after the game before heading home. The game was great, the guys are really playing like a team and had a great offense...a lot better than last years...or at least that's what they all say. The Preachers beat the King's Men 83-63 (or something like that). We had a great talk with Jim after the game and it was just great to see the guys again. I know that Greg is looking forward to being able to play with them next year as well. I bet it was hard for him to just sit and watch...he probably would have rather been playing. But it was a great trip and we are glad we had the night free and were able to support our Preachers. We drove back home after the game...made it back by 1:30am. Then I had to get up for morning practice at 7:30...worked all day and crashed Saturday night.

I just found out this week that my boss at Applebee's wants me to take the "Expert" classes. Basically it means I get a different uniform and that I can train people. I was honored that after only being there for two months that he asked me to do this. But it means going to a meeting and an expert class. I'll let you know how that goes. Doesn't sound too interesting but we'll see.

Swimming is going great. The girls are great, and they are training really hard (same is true of the boys). The girls even invited me to go out to breakfast with them next Wednesday after early morning practice. They are sweet girls and I'm excited to be working with them. I've been working with four of the newer kids on their technique. Some of them are swimming for the first time and don't really know how to do all the strokes. They will continue to improve, I am sure.

Have a great day and know that you are loved!
