I used to say, "It's a good thing we don't use milk to make our cars go." Because milk was like $2.59 when gas was a measly $2.19. Now, today, I wish that we could use milk to make our cars go. I just went to the grocery store and on my way there I saw a gas station with unleaded gas for $3.19. Can you believe it? $3.19. I don't know if that is higher than the rest of the stations on the street (because they pump the gas for you) or if that is average. WOW! I should have filled up yesterday in the pouring rain. So anyway, milk today at JayC Plus (our grocery store) was $1.99 (if you have the membership card...which I do). So now I want to use milk to make my car go. I'm sure you can understand why.
One more observation about my little town. The people here are super friendly. I know, I know there are friendly people all over the world. But these are go out of their way to help you friendly. At our grocery store they don't let you bag your own groceries and they'll even help you take them out to your car for you. I usually say no, "I can handle it", but today I was inclined to let the nice older gentleman help me...who said chivelry was dead? I know what you're thinking... "Jamie, they probably require all their baggers to ask if you need help out to your car." Which is probably true, but let me ask you this. Would you work as a bagger at a place where you knew it might be a possibility that you'd have to help someone with their groceries to their car if you weren't friendly? I rest my case.
I wonder if they'd unload the groceries into my house for me too. I'll have to ask next time.
