What can I do to make kids understand the importance of walking the talk? It seems to me that they all know the right things to say on Sunday morning but it doesn't go out of the church doors with them. I cannot say that is true for all the youth in my ministry but it seems like many of them are "Sunday" Christians. What can I do to get them to understand that it's just like any other relationship. If you don't talk to your best friend how are you going to know anything about them and how is your relationship going to continue and how will it ever grow? How can I get them to understand that their lives are a testimony for what they believe? If they say one thing or the "right thing" at church but don't live that in their everyday lives I'm lead to believe that they don't truly believe it after all. What can I do? I can pray. I can invest my time in them. I can show them that I truly do care. I want to get other people in place so that when I have to leave here they will still have other Christian adults around who can lead them and be a good example. It's just so hard to get someone to understand the awesomeness (is that a word) of a truly committed relationship with Jesus. Awesome and challenging! But it is the challenging times that make the awesome times that much more awesome. I don't want to leave here thinking that I did nothing to help these youth and other people in this church with their relationship with Jesus. That's what it's all about anyway. The way we talk and act outside of church is just as important as what we do inside church. We have to remember that we are the only Bible that some people will read. If we say we are Christians and our friends know that we are but we still go to that party where we know people will be drinking or if we still cuss and use bad language we are not saying much for ourselves as "Christians".
Okay I have to stop or else I never will. I think I made my point. Living for Jesus everyday is not an easy thing it is something that I constantly struggle with. How are we to become mature Christians though if we only "practice" on Sundays. It is an all the time thing...like breathing air. We are His hands and feet. Okay I said I was gonna stop and this time I really mean it. Take care and please please please know that you are loved unconditionally by the creator of the universe. It's okay if you mess up...just come back to Him after you realize it!
