So I had a pretty good weekend. Friday, Holly and Gene (Greg's sister and husband) were in town so we went out to Applebee's for lunch. And well we ordered pretty quickly but then we just sat there and sat there...for what seemed like an eternity. Then a lady (not our waitress) comes out and tells us that one of the food items was missing from the ticket so she needed to check to see what was missing. So like 10 minutes later our waitress comes out and told us that something happened to the steak that was ordered and they needed to cook a new one. Get your stories straight! AH! Anyway, we sat some more and waited but at least we had great company and were not in a hurry. FINALLY after like 45min to an hour of waiting our food came. We ate drank (soda) and were merry. So we were like we should talk to the manager because we noticed that several tables around us left and got new people and they got their food before us! So anyway, bill time came and the waitress was nice enough to have already talked to the manager and got our bill cut in half! So yeah, we got time to talk to Holly and Gene, and got our food for half the price. This just goes to show that good things come to those who wait. Then we went to the Science Center. They have this cool new exhibit will these tracks suspended from the ceiling and balls rolling through them. It was so cool to sit and watch. Then we decided we were all tired so we left and went home and Holly and Gene went to their friends house in St. Charles. So we went home and took a nap! Much needed!
Then Friday night we went to Lindenwood to see Animal Farm...Jeanette was a pig...and a very good one at that! It was well...an interesting play. Then Jeanette and Andy, Greg and I went to Steak n Shake and that was a good time! We talked about everything under the sun it seemed like and had some good laughs!
Saturday I had to photograph a wedding. That was fun, but it's always a little stressful...I'm still stressing because I haven't seen how the pictures turned out. Bummer. I can't wait. It's killing me! Anyway, it was a quick wedding. I was done by 5pm. Josh and Julie and Jordan came over to watch the first game of the World Series with us! It was good to have them over. I love their company. Too bad the Cardinals lost! We'll get em in game 3!
Sunday, Bible class went really well, I felt good about it anyway. It was awesome to see some new faces! But i really do miss some of the old faces!!!!! So then Greg and I went to church! Awesome service! Then I worked on organizing and labeling all of our CD's at home. Then I took a 2 1/2 hour nap! Boy was that nice. Then we had JOY DUDE! Which was awesome! Jeanette and I got to talk cuz no one else in my group came...which made me sad. But Jeanette and I had a great heart to heart talk! Then the guys were watching the World Series and we went home in like the 5th inning. Too bad they lost again! I typed in all the CD's that Greg and I own...take that back it was just the Christian CD's...into a database. We have 240! WOW!
Anyway, it was a good weekend. However, since I took a 2 1/2 hour nap... and was doing some thinking I was unable to fall asleep. So after lying in bed awake listening to Greg sleeping I decided to go into the living room and read a little bit. So I read two chapters in Next Door Savior by Max Lucado. Awesome book. I was reading chapter 12 and it was just awesome. I am going to include a little excerpt from that chapter in this post. I then watched a little Trading Spaces and then laid there in the dark and waited for sleep to take over. For some reason I could not get comfortable enough to sleep but I finally fell asleep!
So anyway, now I'm at work and working on things for next month and trying to get things organized for this week. I am going to a field hockey game at South at 4:00! So yeah, there's 4 days in a nutshell. It was a good weekend. Just wish it would have been a little more relaxing! God bless you all! Know that you are loved!
Max Lucado – excerpt from Chapter 12 in Next Door Savior
The virgin birth is more, much more, than a Christmas story; it is a picture of how close Christ will come to you. The first stop on his itinerary was a womb. Where will God go to touch the world? Look deep within Mart for an answer.
Better still, look deep within yourself. What he did with Mary, he offers to us! He issues a Mary-level invitation to all his children. “If you’ll let me, I’ll move in!”
Proliferating throughout Scripture is a preposition that leaves no doubt – the preposition in. Jesus lives in his children.
To his apostles, Christ declared, “I am in you” (John 14:20 NCV, emphasis mine).
Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians was that “Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith” (Ephesians 3:17 NIV, emphasis mine)
What is the mystery of the Gospel? Christ in You, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27 NIV, emphasis mine)
John was clear, “Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them” (1John 3:24 NIV, emphasis mine).
And the sweetest invitation from Christ> “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me” (Rev. 3:20 NIV, emphasis mine).
Christ grew in Mary until he had to come out. Christ will grow in you until the same occurs. He will come out in your speech, in your actions, in your decisions. Every place you live will be a Bethlehem, and every day you live will be a Christmas. You, like Mary, will deliver Christ into the world.
Thanks for reading! May God richly bless you according to your needs!
