snow day
It's not every year that it snows in San Antonio, in fact we've never seen snow since we moved here three and a half years ago...but some people haven't seen snow and they've lived here their whole lives. So wouldn't you guess, that it would snow in San Antonio the weekend that Greg and I were out of town (visiting the congregation in Jackson, TN that has extended him a call to be their pastor and by the way, he'll make a decision and announce to both churches on Sunday morning). But at least the big kids were home with grammy and papa and got to experience their first San Antonio snowfall....or should I say snow dusting. Yes, folks the city shut down (so I hear) and yes it was less than 1/4 of an inch of snow. But when you don't ever see snow it is a big deal.
The kids had to make their snow angels on the driveway because the grass was too warm for the snow to even stick. My parents bundled them up nice and good so they would stay warm in the 20 degree weather... I know that's nothing for you northerners (trust me I know I lived in Milwaukee till I was 24) but when it's 80 one day and then 20 the next, it feels pretty cold. They enjoyed the snow for the little time it was around and Naomi is already asking for more. Sorry sweetheart I don't think it will snow anymore in San Antonio this year!

let it snow
I made it to round 2!
Currently wracking my brain trying to figure out what to make.
Since it doesn't snow much here in San Antonio...
except last week while Greg and I were out of town (go figure),
I haven't been motivated to put out snow crafts, or make new ones...
but this has got me motivated so I'll be sure to share my
snow craft later this week!!!

Oh and my mom took pictures of my kids making snow angels while we were gone so I'll make sure to post them asap! And we had a great time at the San Antonio Rodeo and Stock show today...I'll make sure to get some of those pictures up too!

not much
not much time to write what I want to write.
We drove to Dallas on Thursday in one of the
worst snow storms to ever hit Dallas.
Greg had a conference to go to
so the kids and I tagged along and spent
some time with our friends.
The kids enjoyed playing in the snow,
playing with their friends and
going on a little vacation.
Lots of photos and stories to come.
But for now I must find my washing machine and get to work!

it does get cold
No, we did not get snow like they did in houston and dallas.
But it was chilly.
Even a little cold.
I hate using that word since I know what COLD is really like.
But it was cold...35 to be exact.
But I think it's funny when people on the radio call it "bitter cold"
They have NO idea!
We didn't get the snow they thought we might.
But there was frost on the ground on Saturday morning.
I was trying to explain what frost is to Naomi.
She asked if it was frosty the snowman.
I don't think we'll be able to build a snowman.
Bummer.
Hey, would you build a snowman for Naomi and send us a photo?!

come on, get a life!
I know that's what you'll be saying by the time your done reading...er...skiming this post.
But I don't care. It's just what is on my mind right now.
My mom sent me some photos looking out her front door.

Fall photos always do.
She told me that the local news station had a viewer
gallery where people could submit their fall photos.
Homesick some more.
Some of the blogs I follow are of people living "up north".
It seems so strange to me to see everyone all bundled up.
I guess when you live here you do get used to it.
I guess I just forgot that there were other people in the world,
and that not everyone always has the same temperatures.
silly me.
But it's a good thing, you would NOT have wanted to be here this summer.
I long for fall so bad that I made my daughter wear a
sweater dress to church this morning.
Because it was a "cool" 60 degrees.
What was I thinking?
Well, actually it was a SUPER cute (hand-me-down) dress
that was perfect for our family photos. (I'll be sharing some soon).
So anyway, I miss fall.
I wish my windows could be open everyday
for more than five minutes in the morning.
I wish I didn't sweat when walking out to the mailbox.
I wish I could make a big pot of chili and watch football on Saturdays
but really don't feel like heating the house anymore than it already is.
Okay, I know, enough already.
Just know that if you live further north than say,
Oklahoma...enjoy the "fall" while you can!
Because when winter strikes you all up there...
I'll be enjoying "fall" down here!
