sewing accessories at home and on the go blog hop {giveaway}

When I taught myself to sew I was pretty sure I'd stick with straight lines and two pieces of fabric...I have big dreams don't I? Well, I am forcing myself to step outside the box and try new things because it's fun and a little scary - let's be honest. But really, what's scary about trying a new sewing method? Big deal if you mess up it's just fabric, and that is the mindset I am going with. I have sewn many peasant dresses a few sets of curtains, lots of tie shirts, a few small purses but I have never sewn anything this big before. But I'm so glad that I jumped in with both feet and tried something new. Now, I know I can do it and more importantly that my sewing machine can do it, so I will continue to try new things. I was always afraid to push my sewing machine and just assumed it couldn't handle it. Well after making this bag I know my machine can handle it. And it's not that it was difficult or a hard pattern to work with I was worried about the layers and the batting. I wasn't confident that my machine could actually stitch so many layers at once...but it CAN!! Yay!!!

I was so excited when Jamie asked me to be part of this blog hop. A little intimidated as well. But since she's family I thought I'd give it a go ;) But really I was just super excited to get to sew something different and when I looked through the book I kept saying "I want to make that...and that...and that". It's a great book full of very practical items for your sewing room. Super cute pin cushions, an iron bag, tv tray ironing cover, and lots of other goodies. My next project will be the embroidery bag because I usually have mine stored in a plastic bag...and for that little bag I will conquer my fear of zippers. This sew on the go tote is perfect for me because we have craft night at church once a month and now I won't have to make as many trips to get all my stuff in the door!!

What looks like an unassuming cute little bag...
 Is actually a pretty large tote that can hold my sewing machine, cutting mat, tools and more. Plenty of space in there.

My favorite things to sew are quilt tops, but little zipper bags are a close second. They go faster, and sometimes I need that instant gratification. Your bag is very nice.

I have to say that your new closed in porch is fabulous! This book looks so interesting and your bag is perfect. I love to sew table toppers and runners for my home especially for the holidays. Thank you for the chance.

My preference is to make smaller projects like coasters, purses, potholders, table toppers, lap quilts, etc.

BEAUTIFUL job on the bag! Love your fabric choices. I love to sew pouches, you can be so creative with them. I've started to learn garment sewing and I'm getting better at making quilts as well. Love it all really.

That is super neat! I need something like that besides the box I keep it in when I bought it years ago. Really like that!
